This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you visit this site or play Sektorium: Captains' Duel.

Sektorium: Captains' Duel is operated by SproutVest, LLC.

Information We Collect

Usage and device data. IP address, browser type, language settings, and interaction data collected by Google Analytics (with cookies, and only if you accept them) and by our host, Cloudflare, including Cloudflare Web Analytics (without cookies). Both are described under Analytics below.
Feedback. What you send through the feedback form, described under Feedback below.
Error reports. What your browser sends Sentry when something on the site goes wrong, described under Error Reporting below.

Analytics

Google Analytics measures how the site and the game at /play are used. It is not loaded until you choose Accept in the cookie banner, and if you choose Reject it is never loaded and sets no cookies. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we treat that as Reject and do not ask.

Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits too, and works differently. Our host, Cloudflare, adds a small script (beacon.min.js, from static.cloudflareinsights.com) to every page it serves, including the game at /play, and that script reports to Cloudflare Web Analytics. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and does not fingerprint you or use any identifier that could follow you to another site. It records page views (the page address, the page that referred you, and your browser, operating system, device type and country) and performance timings, such as how long each page took to load. We see these figures only as totals.

Unlike Google Analytics, it is not governed by the cookie banner. Cloudflare inserts it as the page is delivered, outside the code the banner controls, so it runs whatever you choose. Blocking static.cloudflareinsights.com with your browser's tracking protection or an extension stops it, and the site and the game work the same without it.

Feedback

When you send feedback, we store your message, your email address if you give one, the page you sent it from, and the time. It is kept in Cloudflare KV, a storage service run by our host, and deleted automatically after 180 days. We read it to improve the site and the game, and use your email address only to reply to you. To have your feedback deleted sooner, email us at the address under Contact below.

Error Reporting

Sentry, a service run by Functional Software, Inc., tells us when the site breaks. On every page of this site except the game at /play, a script reports to Sentry when an error happens in your browser: the error itself, the page address, the page that referred you, your browser, operating system and device, and a short trail of what the page did just before it, such as clicks, navigation and the requests it made. For about one page load in ten it also sends performance timings, such as how long the page and its requests took to load.

When an error happens, Sentry also receives a replay of the page around it: the page's layout, your mouse movements, clicks and scrolling, and the error. The replay replaces all text on the page with blank blocks, leaves out images and video, and masks anything typed into a form, so it does not carry the words you read or wrote. On a visit where no error happens, no replay is sent.

Your browser's connection to Sentry carries your IP address, as any request does. The site tells Sentry not to store it with a report, and we do not send Sentry your name, email address or any identifier of our own. Sentry sets no cookies. It keeps one small entry in your browser's session storage (sentryReplaySession) so that a replay survives the page reloading, and your browser deletes it when you close the tab.

Sentry processes these reports in the United States. It keeps them for the retention period of our Sentry plan and then deletes them; Sentry gives that period as 30 to 90 days for error reports and replays, depending on the plan. We use them only to find and fix faults.

Unlike Google Analytics, error reporting is not governed by the cookie banner. It runs for every visitor, because it is how we learn that the site has stopped working for someone. Blocking sentry.io with your browser's tracking protection or an extension stops it, and the site works the same without it.

What We Will Not Ask For

We will not ask you to download software to play the game.
We will not request passwords, payment details, or other sensitive personal information.

How We Use Information

To reply to feedback you send, if you give us an email address.
To operate, secure, and improve the site and the Captains' Duel experience.
To understand engagement and measure the effectiveness of our outreach.

Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information.
We share data with service providers that help us host the site, run analytics, and report errors (Cloudflare, Google and Sentry), under agreements that require appropriate protections.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and users.

Data Retention

Feedback is deleted automatically after 180 days, as described under Feedback, and error reports are kept by Sentry as described under Error Reporting. We may keep information longer where the law requires it.

Your Choices

You can change your answer to the cookie banner at any time: choose Cookie settings at the foot of any page on the site and the banner opens again. Choosing Reject after Accept deletes the cookies Google Analytics set in your browser and tells it to stop using cookies; the next time a page loads, it is not loaded at all. The site and the game at /play share one answer, so a change made on the site applies to the game too. Your answer is kept in your browser for twelve months, after which the banner asks again.
You can also disable cookies or analytics in your browser settings, though some features may be limited.

We use reasonable safeguards to protect the information we collect. No online system is 100% secure, so please use the service with that in mind.

Children

The site and the game are not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised date when changes are made.
